August 2007

This was International club trip to South Mission Beach. The day was sunny and hot, just perfect day for the BBQ. We were already very hungry when we got at the beach and soon we started BBQ. We had hotdogs, hamburgers, Yo-chan(squid), cream puffs, snacks and fruits..etc. After BBQ, we played with the Hula Hoops, Beach Volleyball and Swam. Some people played football, baseball and tug-o-war. We fought with one language school at the beach. We lost, but it was a lot of fun.

Hi Everyone. I just wanted to let you know that the Grossmont College International Club now has an online Photo Album. Under the “Links” section of this page you will find the link to our Online Photo Album called “International Club Photo Album.” The photo album currently only has some pictures from one of our events but I will be sure to Update it as soon as possible so that you can see all the various types of events that the International Club offers. Please enjoy your New Semester of Fall 2007 at Grossmont College.

This was a fun event. The International Club’s trip to the San Diego Nighttime Zoo. When you go to the Zoo there is always the chance that some things will happen that you do not expect to happen. Or you may see something that you have not seen in your previous experiences of going to the Zoo. For us, there were thing we saw that we did not expect to see and things happened that we also did not expect to happen. For example, there was this cool artist who used his fingers for painting. It only takes him less than half an hour to complete a piece of art. But he does charge a high price for his paintings. The thing is when you watch him you are surprised how good he is and might think how was he able to make it look that good when he is finished. From what I hear, he is worth going to see if you have the chance.

A couple of the other things we got to see while we were walking around were the Pandas, Polar Bears, some black colored bears, a lot of birds, a peacock walking around outside of a cage, a talking parrot (although, all he could say was “Hello”), Monkeys, Gorillas, Giraffes, all sorts of animals that you could think of. We also went to check out a couple reptiles too. We were able to see the very large, Albino Python. As well as many other types of snakes too. Something that I learned while at the Zoo, which also happens to be something unexpected that happened to a group in the International Club, was that turtles actually do make noises. As for why… you will have to find out for yourself. Finally before we left we left, the last thing we saw was one of the shows the Zoo does for visitors, at night. It was really good. I went last year on this trip to the Zoo and saw the show last year too, but it was different. That it because they change the show every year. And I think that this show was better than last year’s one. The show is fun to watch but at the same time teaches you something or has a meaning behind it. I think that it is worth seeing if you have the chance to. Also the shows that the Zoo does are almost all FREE, so you do not have to worry about paying for it. Overall we had a good time at the San Diego Zoo and it turned out to be a fun trip.

(Note: Some things to remember when going to the San Diego Zoo. It is always a good idea to take a lunch with you when you go to the Zoo. The food at the Zoo or any park for example can be expensive (cost more than normal). So it is a good idea to pack a lunch or a couple of snacks and drinks with you before you go to the Zoo. If you do this, then you will not have to worry about paying $3 dollars for a small bottle of water or $8-9 dollars for a meal. It is a good money saver. Another thing to remember is that when you go to the Zoo you will usually be spending most of your time standing or walking around because you want to see all the animals, right!? So it would be useful to wear a good pair of walking or running shoes when you go. If you do that, then you will have more energy to concentrate on seeing as many places in the Zoo as possible. Instead of having your concentration on your feet and thinking “I really want to leave so I can get off my feet.” You will be able to enjoy your experience at the Zoo, if you can remember these two little things. I hope that they help. And whether it is your first time going to the Zoo here or you have gone there before, like me, I hope you have a good time).

The most recent event that we have had is the Summer 2007 trip to Knott’s Soak City. It was really fun. Everyone who went had a great time. There were many rides available for us to ride on, from the smaller water slides to the large Coranado Express and the Pacific Spin. There were times that you feel like you might fall off but the thrill and fun you have makes up for it. All the rides are lots of fun and while you are there you are covered in water for at least 90 percent of the time. Knott’s Soak City is a fun place to go on a hot day when you want to cool down and have a good time.

(Just a reminder: they do not allow you to take any food into the park, only sealed drinks such as water and energy drinks are allowed. They provide food and drinks at the park but some of the prices can be quite high for such things, ex. soda at a machine $3 dollars. So to prepare I would recommend that you have a good meal before you go into the park. Also they do allow you to leave the park if you need to go to your car, so another way to save money would be to bring along snacks and good drinks and store them in the car until you need them. Another option, is that at certain times the park has a good priced deal on BBQ, all you can eat. For more information on that call the Knott’s Soak City at (619) 661-7373. Finally, if you are worried about you personal belonging, especially the expensive ones, the park does provide lockers for your use at reasonable prices, ranging from $5-$7 dollars for a Small to Large sized locker. I hope this information can be of use to you if you ever plan on taking a trip out to Knott’s Soak City in San Diego, California. Have a nice Day!).

Lastly, I will be posting pictures from this event below. Just click on them for a better view.
